Ahráyeph is not a new band. Its origins lie way back in the early summer of 1996, in a band called Crucifire. After having been active in various projects the Norwegian band founder Mr. Grey is now going to release the first album of his solo project Liquid Grey. "Grey Matter" is a rock album with definite influences from Gothic Rock and Post Punk fo the 80s whose catchy hooks, driving beats and Mr. Grey's classic melodious guitar play leave a lasting impression. Despite dark sounds and lyrics, the 13 songs were produced in a state of serenity detached from the restrains and expectations of the music business to produce the next big thing. Songs like "Red", "From Dusk To Dawn" and "Everything That Kills" could be best described as "Goth Rock for Highways" whereas e. g. "Low" with its halting rhythm and the corresponding Flanger guitar shows a certain affinity for early The Cure songs. |

Mob Research is the bastard offspring of legendary Killing Joke bassist Paul Raven (also Ministry, Prong) and guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission, Peter Murphy, Tricky). Both born and bred in the midlands UK, the pair jammed back in 1989 then went their separate ways, crossing paths occasionally over the years before reuniting in L.A. in spring 2007 to ignite the fire that is MR. Raven enlisted legendary Detroit frontman Kory Clarke (Warrior Soul), mad scientist Legion Davies on additional guitars, ex Queens of The Stone Age drummer Nick Lucero on skins and the beast was born. Though the Shroud have the band name and the cover art of gloomy, Gothic dark wavers, this record's sound pulses with uptempo love songs and velvety rockers. Engaging in a straight-up, guitar-driven way, the music is simultaneously accessible and mysterious, like familiar surroundings suddenly darkened in a candle-lit power outage. Though well-crafted and produced to a high sheen, it's also still edgy and passionate. Take the verses of "Pixy-Led": Lydia Fortner's vocals cascade through a melancholic guitar line, giving way to the big chords and enticingly teasing keyboard riff in the chorus. Elsewhere, the arpeggiated guitar work and organic atmospherics of "And Then" almost sound like a forgotten Moody Blues B-side. Still, this is more Siouxie Sioux than classic-rock homage. The baroque feel and swirling vocals of songs like "Let Me Hold On" conjure up images of a romanticized past, lavish and ornate as a four-poster bed covered with rose petals. |

"...Ich töte mich..." is the debut album by darkwave band Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows, and was released in 1994. The original pressing had no title, though the "...Ich töte mich..." line was printed in blackletter on the back cover; later editions identified the printed sentence as the official title. Originally released as a limited edition of 1,000, the album has now been re-released. |

The Inexperienced Spiral Traveller was the first album to set the sound of Sopor in stone, with its tighter, more expressive arrangements and full utilization of strings and brass. The musical palette was enhanced by the edition of actual violin, cello and lute players, where synthesizers had been previously used. Drum machines were also integrated with the live percussion on several songs, and production values were at their highest yet with full use of studio techniques, as heard on opening track "Sylla'borêal". |

For "Es reiten die Toten so schnell", Anna-Varney Cantodea went back to her demo tape of the same name and re-recorded all of its songs; the first seven tracks of this album consist of the demo tape in its original sequence. The rest of the album features re-recordings of the bonus tracks that were included on the first Sopor Aeternus album, "...Ich töte mich jedesmal aufs Neue, doch ich bin unsterblich, und ich erstehe wieder auf; in einer Vision des Untergangs...", along with a handful of new songs. "Birth - Fiendish Figuration", Sopor Aeternus' signature song from their first album, appears again in its fourth incarnation on a record. The original version of "Reprise" was a spoken word piece featuring a line from the bridge of "Dead Souls". |

"Dead Lovers' Sarabande", as a whole, is a transitory death suite detailing the unnamed protagonist's mourning of her lover and her desire to rejoin him in the afterlife. Major recurring themes in the work include loneliness and the dreadful feeling of loss when someone dear dies. The story of the first part centers around Cantodea assisting her husband in committing suicide; although he is said to be suffering, the exact cause is not mentioned. In "Hades "Pluton"", she attempts to make a deal with otherworldly beings in order to recover her husband but refuses it eventually. Anna-Varney Cantodea later admitted that "Dead Lovers' Sarabande" was dedicated to, but not about, the late Rozz Williams, former frontman of deathrock band Christian Death. |

White Rose Transmission started in 1995 as a collaboration between Carlo van Putten (at that time vocalist of the Convent and now the singer of Dead Guitars) and Adrian Borland (frontman of the English 80's cult band The Sound). After the sudden death of co-founder Adrian Borland in 1999, WRT came to a halt until 2006 when Carlo decided to pick up things again and released the songs he wrote together with his friend Rob Keijzer under the flag of WRT. In 2008 Frank Weyzig (ex Clan of Xymox member and singer of Born For Bliss) joined in and together Carlo, Rob and Frank finished the recording of the fourth WRT album "Spiders in the Mind Web". |
